Review on InSinkErator HC ViewSN SS Dispenser Inches Nickel by Brian Cheney

Good product but some installation parts not included

Bought to replace a 7 year old GN1100. Quite a lot of changes in the new block. It has a longer warranty than the old one. Conveniently, the thermostat control is located on the outside of the tank body for easy access without having to climb into the sink cabinet and remove the bezel to adjust. This model of the new unit does not have a filtration system but easily connects to the old filtration system (I cleaned the lines and installed a new filter just in case). Comes with a redesigned dispenser (aka faucet). Couple of problems with that. The new dispenser looks good. But it's not that high, it doesn't sway to get in the way, and it doesn't hang that far over the sink. just know. The new dispenser handle flexes a little but is stable enough when not standing on it. Also new hoses and fittings that make installation easier and less prone to leaks. but will not work with the old tank unless you replace them. It is better to use all new components. The new dispenser has a new brass bracket built into the base with a large plastic nut that holds the dispenser firmly to the countertop. This works well if your countertop or sink isn't very thick (3/4 inch or less), but if you have thick granite (mine is 1 1/4 inch) this unit comes with a 3 inch plastic sleeve to hold the to extend the bracket. However, the sleeve requires a 1 1/2 inch diameter hole and will not fit through a hole in granite. I spent a few days figuring out how to make the hole bigger, like sanding it down or something. Called up suspects (ACE, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.), called some kitchen contractors, someone has ideas. The right people and tools for the job are expensive. Then I had an aha moment. GHOST! Grind only about 1 inch of the sleeve's male threads, just enough to fit on top. Fasten the dispenser, connect all lines, open the water line again to fill the tank, open the dispenser to bleed the system and connect the tank. In 5 minutes. Works perfectly. Your mileage may vary, batteries are not included and of course no tariffs.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
