There is no indication that the detector worked. You have no idea what's wrong with the Kidde system. I really need an indicator of recent activation. When replacing the batteries, DO NOT touch the unplugged power plug, it is highly charged and may give you an electric shock. After disconnecting, you must unload the device. I dropped mine after an unexpected bump while changing the battery, which is on the bottom and requires the unit to be removed and unplugged. When replacing the battery, do not touch the AC connector pins. To discharge, press the test button after removing the device and battery to discharge the system.
