great job - kayak, canoe and SUP carrier

I built a double kayak carrier for my van and installed 4 of them. According to others U-bolts will rust, and I used a screw to hold them in place. Plastic nuts break or loosen and get lost. "My kayaks. I rode them 7,000 miles last summer. I used ratchet straps to attach my kayaks to these saddles instead of the straps that came with them.
