Review on 🚲 Thule Shield Bike Pannier Bag: The Ultimate Companion for Cyclists by Mark Walsh

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really very good but could be a little better

I have to admit they worked well. I bought them for a unique moose hunt to use on mountain bikes. Basically hunting for about 30 days, getting in and out of a truck, constantly opening and closing bags to get stuff. My friend had Ortlieb panniers and I think the two complaints I would have with these Thule(s) compared to his is that the Thule "handle" to get them off the bike is a flimsy rope with a hose around it. Of course the string seems pretty strong and has held up... it just feels cheap. Another long term issue of mine is that Ortlieb hanger parts are much easier to replace and Thule parts don't seem to be there. In general I trust Thule bags and they work like traditional dry bags. I have used them extensively and they have even been exposed to freezing temperatures and although the rubber hardened in the cold it did not crack when rolling. For the price I would buy it again but I think the couple of features I mentioned could be improved.

Pros
  • Sport
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
