The medium says it is 10 inches long but when it arrived I immediately noticed it was larger and measured it. In fact, it's a full 12 inches from the base to the end of the pole. Before ordering this I specifically measured the inside of my kennel cage where I wanted to place this perch and 10 inches was perfect. Now it doesn't fit because it's 2 inches too big! boo It's a good perch and I usually trade it in for a small size. However, as others have pointed out, this is ONLY correct along the horizontal wires of the cage. You can place it along the vertical wires if you really want, but then the perch will not be in a position for the bird to use it. So why should you do it? Very disappointed as I was looking forward to giving this to my little pal and sending it back.
