These types of moisture proof shakers are the only ones my family ever used growing up and the ones I have now for everyday use. The square patterned glass is beautiful to look at, feels comfortable in the hand and fits perfectly. The tops open easily with the thumb and close gently when released. A pair with a black top and a white top is good for pepper and salt; would love a color choice though as I miss the bright red and yellow tops of my old childhood friends. The spring-loaded lid prevents accidental spills if the shaker tips over, and the moisture barrier works well in our hot, humid Georgia summer - I've never needed rice in this style of shaker to keep my salt flowing freely. I can't imagine life without her.
