You can use better instructions but good ones

After using the Echo product on the last two helmets I decided to look for something new. While this one is easier to use and doesn't get stuck like the Echo, it has a few things that bother me. Now it's durable and made entirely of metal. It closes with a fairly comfortable click and holds its position without slipping. I really like it and I think I will get it again in the future. However, what worries me is that the instructions are a bit vague and I had to email the seller to have it installed. That's when I found out that there are different sizes of this device. This appears to be the correct fit for my HJC IS-Max 2. So the next step to deal with this was to remove the helmet latches on the chin strap! Since my helmet was replaced this spring, I wasn't too keen on the idea of physically modifying it, especially when I realized I didn't like the closure and had to look for replacement buttons. But after an hour and a half I gave up and tore it down, finally installed the device and done. So I think the helmet changing instructions should be clearer and maybe the seller could post a descriptive guide on their website. First, it's metal, and if you ride in cold weather (I do) a cold spot can form under the chin. I have a beard so it's not a problem for me. But this poses another problem; You can hook your beard with these devices, including the Echo. A bit fiddly, but at least this one sounds good while my old Echos get stuck and I have to call for help. So yes, I am happy with it and will continue to use it. Fix a few things mentioned and I'll be a happy camper.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Bad instructions
