I bought these because I was building a shed and the roof angle was too steep to serve as a slide. I bought three of these to span the width of a 16 foot roof so I could work on the entire roof's shingles without moving the brackets. I used a 16ft 2x6 as a platform. Using a ladder, I ran the roof as far as I could, then attached the brackets and moved on. It took a bit of fiddling to get the brackets loose, but my roof looks fine. This was my first time doing a roof and the thought of falling was scary, especially as I suffer from chronic dizziness. They saved my life and I wasn't afraid of falling to my death or at least being seriously injured while using them.
