I bought this antenna to improve the wireless performance of my other desktop PC which is across the house where I am not getting a good connection to my existing 3dBi antenna on my Ralink Wi-Fi adapter. The signal level improved greatly when I connected this higher gain Alfa 9dBi antenna (tried it on my WiFi adapter AND my wireless router with adapter) and also ran a link speed test on the CNET site where I got a noted an improvement of 40%. at speed! As an additional test, I wanted to see how many WiFi networks (nodes) I could find in my immediate area. My previous 3dBi antenna was able to receive 13 networks and this new Alfa antenna can now receive 22 which is a huge increase! Signal strength has also improved significantly on most of these received networks. The extra gain and dB performance this antenna gives you over the smaller standard antennas on your WiFi adapter or router is well worth it! Everyone should use it to improve connectivity and signal performance. Finally, in the 70's when the CB craze swept the country, I remember many (myself included) trying to improve their omnidirectional antennas (and therefore their signals) by using their smaller 1/4 wave verticals or upgraded Shakespearean antennas. Suitable for 5/8 gain vertical antennas or higher gain extended base station antennas such as IMAX2000. Signals and range improved significantly when switching to a higher gain CB antenna. The same applies to the scenario or WiFi application.
