This kettle works great. I was surprised at how big it was when it arrived, but it's my fault for not reading the details. I only need enough water for 1 cup of coffee, but it boils a lot faster when it's not full and wide. I really wanted a ceramic kettle but I have a glass hob and I've read that they don't mix well together so I went with this one. It's very light, but the plastic doesn't feel cheap. I was a bit worried about the grip after a few complaints, but it seems solid enough. If something happens, it's bolted so you can easily replace it. A wooden drawer handle will look cute anyway! As for the whistle, it was quiet at first and then got so loud it almost hurt my ears, so I don't know how anyone can complain! If it slowly decreases over time, it could be a hard water buildup and there are many ways to fix this. If I could get half size that would be great! I'm also too impatient to boil water on medium so I've used it every time with no problems, no marks!
