Review on πŸ’‘ Optimized Powermaster 57759 Auto Alternator by Jason Ortiz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

*Updated 2/4/19* 2 years later whining noise. One of the best upgrades I've made to my 1966 Thunderbird

Installed on my 1966 T-Bird with a 7.0 liter 428ci B-8 engine . It required some special wiring to get it working as the car originally had an external voltage regulator. My T-Bird had trouble putting out the right amount of power at low revs. When idling, the dashboard and headlights were dimmed. With this generator, windows and seats work faster and smoother now, the lights don't dim at low speeds, and I'm sure I'll have enough stable power to install an audio system, an electric air conditioning unit and a heater. Seats etc. After driving around with a failed alternator for a while it is such a dramatic improvement in the overall performance of almost every aspect of the car. One of the best updates I've made. *Update 2/4/19* Alternator started whining, outputs 11 volts at idle, climbs to 11.8 after a minute or two. I will update further after diagnosing the issue. (The noise is made by the alternator itself, not the belt).

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
