Best mats I have found so far

This is not my first set of blocking mats and they were a lot more expensive than others. There are several reasons why I chose new carpets when I already had others. 1) They don't stink in the house or in my project. You can read reviews about the smell of some less expensive rugs, but one thing you don't want to know personally is that hair fibers (wool, alpaca, yak, camel hair, etc.) absorb and hold odors. much stronger than other fibers and you are much more limited in what you can do with it afterwards. 2) GRID LINES MATCH! The first set of mats I bought (from another brand) didn't match the grid lines after they were glued together. I just overcame the blockage of a severely deformed handkerchief. This was not due to poor technique, but rather because every detail of this crochet pattern resulted in warping. It was crocheted diagonally, and the alternate rows were just unlimited, so all the rows forming the structure are knitted in one direction. Normally, when working back and forth, a slight tilt in one direction in one row is offset by a tilt in the opposite direction in the next row. It was important that I could line up the rows with lines on either side of the work. Without this feature, blocking correctly would be much more difficult. If the lines do not match from block to block, you can only use lines for items, which are less than 12 inches wide at their widest point. No other rug I looked at had this quality and quite a few reviewers got really annoyed about it. 3) The ink will not come off when you steam the item. 4) They are fatter. I didn't take that into account when making my decision, but then I realized it was a useful feature. The warped scarf had to be stretched a lot. (Use locking wire to prevent the net effect of hard locking.) If the mats weren't thick, the T-pins wouldn't be strong enough to handle the load. 5) They come with zippered vinyl storage boxes. Their absence will not be an obstacle to the transaction, but it is nice to have them. 6) They come with T-pins and tape measure. Again not a problem but it was nice to have them in a little box right in the vinyl storage bag. There are enough pins to block with wires, but not enough if you're pinning the item directly. And the scarf? It is beautifully covered with rich curtains. (I watched the last tutorial which showed how smoothly the front of the locked vest draped compared to the unlocked front, but how incredible the life changes were was a revelation.) Because I started with bags, kitchen towels and similar items . . , blocking has no priority so far. There are enough pins to block with wires, but not enough if you're pinning the item directly.
