Review on MSI MPG SEKIRA 100R Premium Mid-Tower Gaming PC Case: Tempered Glass Side Panel, Liquid Cooling Support up to 360mm Radiator, Two-Tone Design by Samuel Bowen

No quality control - although high quality materials are used

First impression - I haven't had a chance to put my PC in it yet because I literally only got it 12 hours ago and just got home from work; So these are just my first impressions. The box arrived immaculate from the USPS and my face literally lit up like a happy baby for 20 seconds - because she looked so pretty when she took it out of the box! But then I noticed something odd about the top vent - it has a distinct dent as shown in my 1st photo! If it wasn't for the dent I'd probably give it a 10/10 for aesthetics, but a factory dent (more on that later) is unacceptable for a premium MSRP case. Even on the MSI website, they show off the superb build quality of the Sekira range. The box was in its original form and the dent was actually pushed out from inside the case, meaning it came here from the factory. You would think they have at least 1 person doing a 3 second visual quality check before it's packed and shipped to discerning customers ("smart" because I'm adamant that people who buy more than $100 just for the PC case, are probably more picky). who want quality, attractive casing and craftsmanship). Action - I probably spent about an hour smoothing out the dent with my thumb and palms and it's still obvious - it just bends backwards. At around 3pm Central I couldn't find a way to send a note/request to customer service for the life of me. The chat function also didn't work - a message saying their chat is temporarily unavailable! Tomorrow is Friday and I was dying to start building my computer over the weekend; but I think I'll wait 3 more days to see if I can get MSI to send me a replacement top. If the dent still bothers me on Monday, I'll probably just start the return process with Revain; and stop by my local Best Buy to pick up the Corsair 4000D case (as they have it in stock as I don't want my project to be delayed). Usual materials used - I've never seen a desktop case that looked and felt this good. ! I've stopped by the Micro Center multiple times to see over 40 cases in person and 90% of them have had that cheap vibe (e.g. super light feel, very thin paint, wobbles with light pressure, etc.). ). I used to order a Zalman S2 TG case for $50 and was disappointed - which is why I chose this MSI case. For example, my Zalman S2 looks very cheap - the metal side panel folds down like a floppy disk when you take it out! The side panel of this MSI is rock solid! The paintwork doesn't feel as cheap as Zalman's either - the paintwork on this Sekira has a very nice matte finish - very evenly colored and feels thick. The brushed metal is also very nice, especially around the buttons and ports. Other thoughts - I wasn't surprised at the lack of quality control. Before I decided to build another PC, I actually had my eye on Best Buy's pre-built gaming PC, the MSI Aegis ZS, because the retail price at the time was very tempting given how hard it is to buy a graphics card these days . But the numerous negative reviews saying that MSI forgot to put the power button on the device put me off buying it. I thought it was just user error, but now I'm sure MSI actually has quality control issues.
