I have the same set that I received years ago. Interchangeable needles are the best they came up with. I knit a seamless top-down sweater, which means I have at least two sets of stitches at all times while I'm working on a different section. With them, instead of transferring your stitches to the stitch holder, you simply remove the end of the needle from the cord and replace it with a different cap. The seams are done. If you need to pick up these stitches again, put the end of the needle back on. I replaced the straight needles with these. First, you can make the needles longer or shorter depending on your needs. For my current sweater, I made them short while working on one side of the front of the coat. Now I'm under the armhole, so I'm knitting all the stitches of the back and two of the front, so I made them long so all the stitches stay on the needle. Even with 14 inch needles it's going to be difficult to get all those stitches on straight needles. If you need to knit in the round, all common needle sizes are included in this handy pack, and you can make the cord as long or as short as you need for your project. It is expensive to buy single circular needles, the cord between them cannot be lengthened or shortened, and they are not easy to store. I've only used Denise needles so I don't know about other types of replacement needles, but Denise seems to have a lot for the price. I also like not having to fiddle with a wrench to attach the needle or cap to the cord. I've seen some others have a tiny "key" to lock it up. Denise that you put on a needle or cap and twist. I think the first set I used I had for fifteen years with no problems. The only difference between this set and my old set is that my old set had two about 6 inches? cords. This one has a very long cord and one is 6 inches. old sentence. The best thing I like about them is sitting on a chair and knitting, unlike the long straight needles, if it has handles you always rest on your hands with the needles. They don't do that because the hard plastic part is only an arm's length long and the rest is flexible. That would be great if you want to work on your knitting on the machine or something. I'm fed up with the machine. : ) But I would if I could. :)
