It's a great concept but didn't quite suit me. I have a bearded dragon (toothless) and I have concerns about UV as well as heat. When I used a mercury lamp, I couldn't use it because it doesn't vent well enough and that would severely shorten the life of the lamp. Well, in my current setup I'm running a 150 watt flood. Before I set my timers properly, the lamp worked as advertised. All the lights went out and the dome glowed. Toothless would watch the glow when he went to sleep. The reason this doesn't work so well for me is that I'm using an electronic dimming controller for Exo Terra terrarium lights, 2 x 40w cCSAus (I tried to add the link but it didn't work) and I have the incandescent bulb turn off after 20 minutes before turning on the light. The glow fades as the light in my tube dims and goes out. All in all I highly recommend it.
