It works but is a bit messy

After a few weeks of use all I can say about this grease gun is that it works. Pop in a tube of lube, pull the trigger a few times, and you're good to go. After the first day of use everything was great. I was impressed, at least until I put it away with my other grease guns, and the next day, unlike any other equally cheap hanging grease gun I've bought over the years, it's squeezing out grease. Thread is everywhere. This is especially true in places where you can't try to glue something better. For example around the cap screws on the pipe (where you add/remove the grease pipe) even after several attempts to tighten it even more, or around the sleeve where you can adjust how tight or loose it holds the fitting. I've never seen grease leak out of a clutch. It also pushes out the driver rod at the bottom. I suppose I could pull the push rod all the way back each time I use it to relieve pressure, which would presumably stop the leak, but I've never had to do that. any other grease gun. Sounds like a recipe for premature piston wear and/or air pockets in the lubricant. The clutch also wobbles a bit where you adjust it. By that I mean it moves on its own and is able to find that sweet spot tight enough to snap the fitting in, allowing you to squirt lube without holding it all the time but still be able to pull on it. without fear of breaking the anchor. I've found that with this coupling I need to make sure it's loose before slipping it onto the fitting, tightening it, injecting grease, and finally loosening it to remove it. This is sometimes difficult depending on where the fitting is located. U-shaped connections with this gun are a bit painful. I've locked it to the fitting more than a couple of times when it was quite difficult to get in there to release the clutch enough to disengage without releasing the latch.

Pros
  • Pistol grip and knurled barrel increases grip
Cons
  • Expensive
