Review on ViewSonic VX2478 SMHD Frameless Widescreen DisplayPort 2560X1440P: ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ An Immersive Visual Experience with Anti Glare and IPS Technology by Jason Davies

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the best monitor, but absolutely worth $200.

The monitor is very easy to set up. The bevels are very well thought out. This is a beautiful representation. The stand is very thin and wobbles very easily. The good thing is that it is VESA compatible. My monitor had pretty poor screen uniformity. The presence of a gradient is noticeable when the left side of the screen is darker than the right. There are also three bright spots, presumably due to a manufacturing defect. However, no hot or dead pixels. Color accuracy is pretty decent for a box. Not nearly as accurate as my Eizo, far from it. Despite its shortcomings, this monitor is very expensive. It replaces my old standard Korean 1440p monitor, mainly because I need additional and more modern connections than dual-link DVI. The Korean monitor had the best color and consistency, but I needed a monitor that would connect to my work laptop and home computer. I've played some very casual FPS games on the ViewSonic and it does an excellent job of what you'd expect from a 60Hz IPS screen. In short, this is a decent monitor for just over $200. There are flaws that become apparent as soon as you turn on the screen, but it's good enough for everyday use like word processing, web browsing, and very casual gaming. Just don't use it for serious photography.

Pros
  • FORM AND FUNCTION. With a modern design, 2K WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440p) and a premium IPS panel, these monitors look as good as they perform.
Cons
  • makes me nervous
