Everything I read on the internet related to the grounding problem (which was revealed by touching my computer case as that would lessen the problem) and several people have stated that a ferrite core on the USB cable will solve the problem. Needless to say, they do nothing at all. I've tried several USB cables, a core attached to each end, I've even tried putting one on the headphone cable itself. In general, nothing has changed and glitches can still be heard.
