Review on πŸ“Έ KODAK 2mm ABS Filament by Carl Givens

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fantastic though. for AM products

I wish I could give it a 4.5 * This gives excellent print quality out of the box and couldn't be better in the box. It is in a vacuum zip bag with aluminum processing (moisture resistant) and in a protective film in the box. It's hard to get better and it's dry. I open the package, skip the drawing step, upload it and run it with the same setup I use for all ABS threads (Raise3D mostly). It has a very good finish and dried but ready to use. I notice more tension than usual when loading (not leaking but tightening), also when blowing out the nozzle before printing. Than I expected, tighter than usual. I can print ABS with almost no retraction, not in this case. I've noticed that the manufacturer recommends 235 +/- 5c, so I lower the pressure to 235c to see if that helps. Finally, it's easy to clean and the finish looks fantastic. I also print on blue ribbon, I used to print on PET and was too lazy to take it off, but usually ABS sticks like crazy to blue ribbon, not this one. I wonder if large parts will have problems with warping and peeling. I dried them at 75Β°C for 12 hours, additional retraction like PETG, reduced material flow (90%), printed at 230Β°C/100Β°C table 50mm total speed, cup 30c, nozzle 0.4, layer 0.150 and I get excellent details. In the end it increases the print time by 50%. The coil is only 750g (3/4kg) for $22, I wouldn't recommend it unless it was ready to use. Not much filament can be taken out of the box and used in place, and it doesn't dry for hours. Then, okay, I'd recommend that, but expect slower printing with more hoops and loops. Some setup required, good parts and ready to go. It's more than 4* but definitely not 5*. Happy to print.
