Review on πŸ§€ Zyliss Classic Rotary Cheese Grater - A Trusted NSF Restaurant Certified Kitchen Tool in White by Cheryl Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An indispensable item in every kitchen.

I had the original Zyliss cheese grater for years until I recently lost it when I moved house. I looked at both the "Original" and the newer "Classic Rotary" as replacements. The newer design has better specs (microplane-style reversible grid wheel), a smoother hand feel, and is half the price of the original. Zyliss makes great stuff so I bought it expecting it to be better and overall I wasn't disappointed. The parachute hits the wheel, is a small ledge. As you grate the cheese, pressure on the handle pushes some of the delicious cheese into the corner of that bar, where it stays so well it becomes an area you have to purposefully scrape off every time. This is an issue that had to be identified and addressed during product development as redesigning the chute to eliminate the edge would be a very trivial issue. Rest assured you will love this grater and you will love the price. , but cleaning that edge will annoy you every time you have to. I still prefer this design over the stick grater because it's easy for anyone to get a good result and this design keeps people's hands from touching the cheese during use. (By the way, if you're wondering why someone would grate fresh hard cheese with your favorite pasta, salad, or whatever instead of buying it already grated in a shaker, by all means don't buy one of these Reggiano. You won't eat them.)
