. I heard a click in my dash and couldn't get air out of the correct vents. It turned out that the original motor had 1-2 tiny teeth broken on a plastic gear which was causing all of my problems. Like others, I also found a link to this article in a thread on the Cadillac forums. Just google "Lock Mode Drive on Cadillac Deville" and you'll probably find it. I was able to remove the motor from it and save the case and camera for a rainy day when I hope I never have to use them (replacing the motor was tricky but doable, but replacing the entire block seems like a nightmare). Getting to the bolts is the hardest part, but when it comes to installing a new motor all I can say is the old trick of having a bit of gum on the bushing to hold the bolts in place while tightening. Run them. It's not easy, but if you follow the instructions it can be done, and literally a few hundred less than what the dealer wanted to fix this problem.
