I installed this Prescott front door handle today. Replacing my old Kwikset front door handle took about 30 minutes (I'm very methodical, it would only take most people 20 minutes or so). My goal was to replace a locking door handle with a non-locking handle in preparation for installing a smart home deadbolt like the Kwikset Halo Touch Wi-Fi Fingerprint Smart Lock. The step handle looks very nice, but I only went with the step handle because I couldn't find a step handle without a lock cylinder. It is undesirable to have a smart deadbolt with a handle that still requires manual locking/unlocking. Interior door handles/latches are not strong enough to hold the front door securely locked or weatherproof. So I decided on this pen and I'm glad I did! What pleases me about this front door handle: It is surprisingly stable and solid - it exudes quality. she looks really beautiful! Looks better than a pen (see photo). Easy installation (see below for more thoughts). The most impressive thing is that my front door just works better! The door closes tightly with a hard bang. The improved locking mechanism solved the alignment problem I had with the old Kwikset grip. I used to have to push on the inside of the door to open the latch. Thanks to the improved locking of this new handle, the action of the bolt is silky smooth! As a result, the door closes tighter, more evenly and the handle works smoothly both inside and outside. This pen is just better than I expected in every way! The kit includes all the necessary hardware and very clear instructions. The template was particularly important as a new 7/16" hole had to be drilled in the door (when replacing the handle). There is a fairly adjustable tolerance built in so if someone replaces an old handle the handle will probably be fine replaced.various sizes if the door already has an extra hole.Several reviewers have mentioned problems with the Allen screw.The socket head screw is used to attach the inside handle to the inside base (also needed).The inside handle to ensure the head of the hex screw easily rotated with the supplied hex key/wrench If this is not possible do not even begin the installation - return the kit/replace.
