***UPDATE 2 FEBRUARY 2017 ***Added several comments to this review stating that the quality of the Sabrent External USB Stereo Adapter has declined. There have been reports of audio distortion when using the microphone. While I stand by my original review, I feel it is right to add these new insights as this review is rated as the best comment and most likely to be seen by future customers. *** EXODUS OCTOBER 25, 2015 *** I had a broken microphone port on my computer, so the Neewerยฎ 2X 3.5mm Hands-Free Computer Clip I purchased on a Mini Lapel Mic (2X Lavalier Mic) worked, unfortunately not. I bought this cheap mic because I had so many complaints that my built in mic was grainy and uncomfortable to hear. So I got a new microphone and it didn't work on my computer. I even tested the mic on other computers and it worked great. In the end I came to the conclusion that the microphone connector must be damaged and the signal is not going through. I bought this type for about $6, hooked it up and now it's working fine. For those wondering, yes, you can set your speakers to continue using the built-in sound system and not USB. Just go to the Windows sound settings and change them. On the Playback tab, set the built-in speakers as the default, then go to the Recording tab and select USB as the microphone default. I've attached pictures so you can see what it looks like. USB audio is Sabrent. Now I also tested the sound power just to see how it sounds and if it sounds good. You can connect headphones to the green connector. I've attached some photos to give you an idea of the size and usage. Here's my recommendation. This thing is bulky compared to most USB devices, which makes sense given that it does its own processing. Try to make sure you have settings where it doesn't twitch. I see it's bad. I received it on October 17, 2015. If it breaks or something I'll try to remember to update this review, when did it happen, how rough was it etc. For now it's a desktop computer with a microphone that I never get off the table So I can't imagine things going downhill any time soon. Green = headphone jack. Pink = microphone jack.
