The USB 3.0 port emits up to 2.5 GHz when connected to the adapter, which interferes with the Macbook's antenna. This affects the WiFi connection, which normally operates at 5 GHz. If you open your terminal on your MacBook and try to ping google.com for example, you will see that packets are dropped when the adapter is connected.
