Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Enhanced Gates 38379K Solution Kit: Simplify Your Tasks with Ultimate Efficiency! by Amicz Kakaruk

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Praise for a much-needed upgrade: the Gates 38379K kit.

Please read my warning in the second paragraph below. The kit works; no defects found on the components. There was no written guarantee in the box and I didn't see any mention of a guarantee anywhere. The instructions provided were too general to be helpful and lacked illustrations or photos. However, help and support is available online. Warning. If you have a vehicle where the accessory drive belt derails easily or if you drive through puddles, YOU MUST GO TO THIS KIT. Internet forums report that this problem occurs on vehicles manufactured from 1996-2000 with 3.3 and 3.8 liter Chrysler V6 engines. A constant loud creaking of the belt or pulleys is also an indication of a problem that this kit can solve. A derailment or a broken belt on some vehicles will turn off the alternator, power steering (pump), and air conditioning (compressor). This malfunction can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Kudos for a much needed update: After reading a few reviews I found the allpar.com website linked below which has good photos and tips on how to remove and replace the nut on the back. cocking lever. I read the first reviews in the queue on 02/14. I found the reviews credible and supportive of the product. I ordered a kit for the night at an unprecedented deal - thanks Jeff Bezos and his team! I was able to install the next day (02/16/2012) before noon. The following links were helpful to me:[.] [.]I also really enjoyed reading this page on the history of the engine:[.]I found the belt to fit easily under the idler pulley with a tricky double wrench (see allpar.com story and Joandjo's photo) to pull the cocking lever down. On Chrysler minivans, it is best to start with the rear lower pulley. The belt has to be turned sideways to get past the body and then tries to hide between the pulley and the engine. After attaching the pulley, hold the belt under tension to keep it in the grooves. Use as much light as possible. To remove and replace the tension arm nut I used a 3/8" ratchet wrench with 3 extensions and a universal joint mated to a 15mm hex socket. The last combination worked very well. even without the 4" swing extension (thanks Joandjo). We've only driven the car 10 miles with the update, but so far the product is working great.
