Review on HB-UMLS Sabrent USB 2.0 Hub with 4 Ports and LED Power Switches for Each Port by Matthew Aiono

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works fine, LEDs should be better insulated.

I bought this USB 2 hub instead of a USB 3 hub primarily to connect wireless dongles that can suffer from interference when plugged into the USB 3 port. The buttons come in handy especially when troubleshooting compatibility issues or if devices need to be cycled turn it on to get back to work, or just turn off a device you don't need right now. I connected this hub to one of my motherboard's USB 2 ports using a 10" USB 3 extension cable. Everything I've connected so far works fine: - Corsair Gaming K70 LUX RGB keyboard at any polling rate supported, including 1Hz - Logitech G900 gaming mouse (both wired and wireless receivers work, the latter also via USB pass – via K70 connector mentioned above, connected to a hub) – Logitech MK270 wireless keyboard and mouse combo, no connection issues when receiver was connected to motherboard – HP PhotoSmart 7350 printer via active 5m USB extension cable I subtracted a pass because it's hard to tell in the dark if the port is active or not due to the LED that illuminates the adjacent button is leaking. I wish they were better isolated. Otherwise it works well, the price is excellent, I have not found an alternative with separate buttons: I would buy more!

Pros
  • Backwards compatible with v1.1 devices and hosts. CHARGING IS NOT SUPPORTED.
Cons
  • Out of fashion
