I let my wife talk me into building a 400 square foot deck instead of hiring someone else to do it. One of the things I didn't expect was the railing installation after I installed the decking. I built my deck out of Brazilian Tigerwood and the material is so dense that I had to pre-drill every hole before I could attach the screws. Not to mention that this material was insanely expensive and difficult to cut, I didn't want to cut more wood than I needed. These anchors allowed me to install the railing exactly where I wanted it without having to use standard 2 x 4 cut out posts in the decking. I put a 4 x 4 piece of lumber underneath where I installed them and drilled through the screws and they are just as strong today as they were when I installed them a few years ago. Definitely saved me a lot of time. I highly recommend it.
