Nothing for the average master

Excellent delivery. This product is not for the average dyer. I have used them with white cedar 4x4 stanchions and experienced many cracks and difficulties getting them to really center the stanchions. I assume it's a lot easier if you use wet pressure treated wood (specifically drilling a 1 1/4" center hole in the wood). I got them working and it looks fine if you use plastic caps ( sold separately) rely on metal braces but I have to say it was a test of patience and error, there are much…

The best anchor for attaching poles "to the surface "!

Best anchor for surface mounting on rods. I was initially hesitant to purchase this product (due to the price and disappointment at other products' failures), but it's definitely a solid anchor. Follow the instructions and the installation will be easy. Durability is about a 9 out of 10, if installed correctly you won't be disappointed. If you're a DIYer like me, do a little research (watch a few YouTube videos), buy all the tools you need, and follow the instructions. You can also find this…

Good luck getting to the level

Spent two weeks trying to figure out how to use a cordless drill to drill a straight hole in the end of a 4 wheel drive car. Please note their installation videos never show a level above the post. If the hole in 4x4 isn't perfectly straight, the post will tilt, slightly six inches at the top. Your decision. use spacers. The sharp pipe that comes with the 4x4 is longer than the drill you should buy for the installation. The flange I was trying to install was sticking out two inches from the…

Nice flat mount solution

My project is half done (I installed 4 of them, 3 more are pending). I agree that setting up these things in 4X4 takes some work. However, they seem to be very durable once you learn how to install them. I recommend using a Forstner bit instead of a hole saw bit. The hole saw drill will leave a 4x4 plug that you'll either have to cut out, hollow out, or come back with a shovel. Play around with a few pieces of wood before you start drilling into the finished piece. Also note that you have to…

Easier deck rail installation

I let my wife talk me into building a 400 square foot deck instead of hiring someone else to do it. One of the things I didn't expect was the railing installation after I installed the decking. I built my deck out of Brazilian Tigerwood and the material is so dense that I had to pre-drill every hole before I could attach the screws. Not to mention that this material was insanely expensive and difficult to cut, I didn't want to cut more wood than I needed. These anchors allowed me to install the
