Bigger than expected and solar not as efficient

I chose the Quatix 6 Solar after looking at my friends' non-solar models. Battery life (or rather, having to think about charging) was an issue. for her. Right out of the box I was surprised to find that the solar model has a larger face and a shorter face than the non-solar model - neither in a good way. It's almost too big for everyday use. The frustration continued when I discovered that while the solar feature extends battery life, it can't just be used to charge the battery - meaning if the battery dies, you can't leave the watch out in the scorching sun and expect that she lights up. . . It's possible these two issues were addressed in the product descriptions - in which case it's my fault for not doing the research. In terms of features, having buttons is much better than the vivio3's touchscreen. Cardiac BPM bears little resemblance to that determined by a Garmin HRM chest strap. I wouldn't waste extra SSS on nautical charts when there are many good free phone navigation apps. Otherwise, it records my bike rides, hikes, sailboat races, and cruises well.
