Review on πŸ“¦ Synology RS1619xs+ Rackstation Diskless NAS, 4-bay with 8GB DDR4 by Ellington Gardner

Surprisingly Loud Fan Noise + Amazing Performance

I was running out of disk space and instead of just buying more hard drives I thought I might as well upgrade my system. I switched from a 4-bay Synology NAS DiskStation DS918+ to a RackStation RS1619xs+ to win. Keep in mind this is 19 inches deep and wide. So if you have a small rack, you might want to reconsider this NAS. Another thing that might make you wonder is the lack of SHR support. Now that they're out, why would you upgrade to this NAS? There are many NAS out there, but Synology software always makes it easy for me to decide on my storage needs. The intuitive interface and package is hard to beat. The hardware itself has a quad-core Intel Xeon D-1527 processor. You can install a 10GbE/25GbE network adapter. If you don't have a switch to support 10GbE, save money and get more RAM instead. Speaking of RAM, the RackStation RS1619xs+ supports up to 64GB. So, short story, long story. I love this car but wish it wouldn't kill my eardrums. It's designed for use in an AV room, not your living room. However, professional users do not. I don't want to hear it. So add a third-party fan to your cart during purchase. You can thank me later. Pro:Synology DSN softwareF Strong protection with PCIe slots. The pure power of the system. Cons of Link Aggregation: 19 inches deep and wide. Not suitable for all luggage racks. Fan noise is ridiculous even when not under load. 39.3dB is not true in our test runs as 53.1dB is not supported by SHR :(Not included with the rail kit
