Review on πŸ“š Stillman & Birn Epsilon Series Wirebound Sketchbook 9x12": High-Quality, Heavyweight Paper with Smooth Surface by Denise Davis

Great mixed media sketchbook/worth every penny

This is my favorite and favorite sketchbook and I've been buying it for about 3 years now. Ink and markers stick to the page very well and blend well. Definitely worth it if you want to spend the extra dollar over the cheaper ones. A few pieces I've had for a few years and apart from the obvious use they show little to no signs of wear. You'll encounter typical problems with your sketchbook: dry environments carry over to the next page, alcohol marker bleeds, but that's okay. than any other sketchbook. I've found that marker bleed isn't as bad as most sketchbooks unless I feather a bit heavily. If I put a piece of paper between the pages, the page underneath is protected from ink. And without the extra layer, the affected side can still be used if a small amount of ink seeps through it. The paper is smooth as silk if you prefer fewer teeth like I do. Beautiful and white. STRONG, damn it! I spilled water on one of these and most other sketchbooks I've had would have ruined the pages, but this one didn't hurt much if at all once dry and is still 100% for me. I wouldn't use the Epsilon series for heavy crayons as they are pretty slick. Suitable for quick colouring, but not for a full-fledged colored pencil. Stillman and Byrne have other series of sketchbooks to match your material of equal quality. I've also tried their Beta (thinner) and Zeta (thicker) series. The quality is still up to par. Overall just a great sketchbook.
