Here is a comparison between a 9 month old shoe VS a brand new shoe. I wore the Whitin shoe daily, high mileage. I also hiked in them (10-20 miles mountain terrain, maybe 15 times?), they got wet plenty and dry faster than a sneaker. I do suggest tossing the insole and wearing merino or other thin wool sock with the shoe for warmth even when wet. Cotton socks make your foot cold when wet. BE AWARE: if you are coming from sneakers or boots this is a very thin shoe. You will feel rocks and stuff, my feet hurt during the "learning how to walk in thin shoes" phase. I think my gait is much healthier now because of the way my feet can feel and react to the earth.I give this shoe 4 stars because although it is my favorite shoe there are some improvements I would like to see.(alert me so I can buy a pair)This same shoe with:1. Some thin rubber material glued under, or over top of the fabric above the toe nail area. Maybe just 3cm. Even short toenails can rub the fabric open when walking over rough terrain and the shoe is twisting a lot.2. Try a stronger material under the provided insole because I actually think it's more comfortable without the insole. Don't change the way you make it, just maybe use a fabric with a higher rub rating. My heel eventually rubs through.I will probably purchase again.
