I really wanted this hat to work. I swim in the pool with a snorkel mask. Maybe it broke the seal? I have no idea but the cap seemed quite snug when I first put it on. I didn't have lotion on my face or slippery things to get the cap off. It was VERY comfortable on my baby head. But. After 40 minutes of swimming in the pool I could feel the water splashing around my ears! I had earplugs ONLY AT THE EVENT, but the flat design of the earplugs doesn't bother me at all. My TYR earbuds fit in my ear canal and NO rod sticks out. I kept swimming anyway. After the swim I took off my cap and of course a cup of water flowed out of the cap! The ear pads on this cap seem to keep water inside and the seal on the cap doesn't seem strong enough to keep water out. Again, this *could* be related to the snorkel mask and strap I was wearing, but really? I felt better with a traditional swim cap without shaped ears. SO GLAD I left my TYR earplugs INSIDE as they kept pool water from getting into my ear canals. It would be very gross if that cup of pool water flooded and ejected my ear canals for 40 minutes.
