I love this product so much.

I installed it in November 2014; It's April 2015 and this window film looks like I just installed it. It's functional, attractive and easy to install. The design lets light through - the sun's rays penetrating the leaf pattern creating a beautiful prismatic effect - while blocking the view. I have received many compliments on the appearance of my windows and given unreservedly rave reviews. I have used Artscape brand window film and highly recommend it. The CottonColors brand is much cheaper, so I was worried about the quality. I found the CottonColors brand film to be a little less thick, but since this resulted in more flexibility, I was happy with that compromise. I also found that the roll cut was not square so I had to trim first before measuring. It was a quality control issue that I didn't expect, but it was easy enough to fix. This fell into the "you get what you pay for" column and was another compromise I was willing to make. ymmvHere are a few tips I found through trial and error. I hope this helps you enjoy your window covering as much as I do mine.* This job is much easier if you have a flat work surface. I used a folding table and it was perfect. Use a piece of cardboard under the cut area. *Other tools you will need: a carpenter's square (to cut the roll before starting), a ruler (to guide the cutting), a pen (pen will do), a razor with a new blade. If you don't have a tool to use as a square, you can make a suitable substitute using just about any sturdy square (or rectangular) object - a book, cereal box, or the like. Align one side exactly with the side edge of the window film, then mark 3 spots along the top. Use a ruler along these 3 marks to mark a line across the width of the roll. Cut off excess.* Ribbon (any)1. Before you mark the first measurement on the sheet, use a carpenter's square to get a straight edge. Cut off excess.2. The basis of this window covering is a transparent film and not white coated paper like Artscape. The window covering side is structured and the back is smooth. Make marks on the smooth side. The pen fits me perfectly.3. After you have measured and cut, separate the backing from the foil. I was having a little trouble separating the clear backing from the window film until I discovered this trick. I used two pieces of tape, one for the back and one for the window film. The sticky parts of the pieces of tape will be facing each other, so you can either fold the piece of tape over you or use a scrap piece to cover the sticky part. Press the tape firmly against the film - a few firm wiping movements with your thumb will suffice. Take two pieces of tape and pull them apart. The protective film detaches from the window covering. It took me a few tries to master the technique, but then it was a breeze.
