Review on 💦 GE MSWF Refrigerator Water Filter – Purify and Refresh with 1-Pack, White by Brian Edwards

I am not sure if this product is a genuine GE filter. It looks like GE packaging, shrink wrapped and sealed. However, the filter does not work like a real filter. I have had my GE fridge for over 10 years and I always change the filters on time (about 18 changes to date). This filter change was MUCH unusual. I pre-filled the filter with water, let it sit and refilled the filter as instructed. no change in my previous procedures. During installation and first use (so that no air remains in the filter) I flushed the water for several minutes. I could tell the fridge water pump was struggling as the water came out slower than usual and the pump ran louder (much louder). The filter already appeared to be clogged and/or "used up" as the filter materials did not allow the water to pass through as freely as usual. To test, I matched my 6 month old filter (bought direct from GE so I'm sure it's genuine) with this new filter from an Amazon seller (new/different packaging). The results confirmed my suspicion that the new filter was much slower. The old GE filter filled a 4 cup container in 14.75 seconds (no load on the pump), compared to this just bought "new" filter it took 24.5 seconds (with difficult and louder pump noise). I am reluctant to return items to Revain but this product appears to be of poor quality and does not live up to my expectations for a new genuine factory product. So I'm going back and I'm going to buy from GE.
