So far all my cutters have been Amana, Freud and Bosch. I also have some cheap Chinese mad bits that were meant for one time use but worked amazingly well and lasted so ended up in my bit box. Although I've been buying these white side bits lately since every time I read reviews of Mühlenbits or browse through Mühlenbits forum threads. Everyone is in awe of Whiteside. I now have about 10 white bits and I have to say these bits are fantastic. They leave a silky smooth cut and last a long time. I'm a great friend of Freud's and to me they aren't as sharp as Freud's fragments, but they seem to last a bit longer. I know this because I chose to use a pair of routers that are identical to Freud and Whiteside. The rounded Freud and Whiteside jets are the same size as the flush jets. I've tried them all over the past few months and found that the brand new Freud bits immediately let me cut wood faster. Beats on the white side are slightly slower but leave the same sharp edge as Freud's beats. Whiteside bits also last a bit longer than Freud bits. Haven't tried any of the 1/4 Whiteside bits yet. This particular bit has a 2" cutting edge. It's quite long. So take a look at this bit. If you want to use its full cutting edge. Use it at shallow depths as the 2" cutting edge runs its entire length into a bites quite a large piece of wood and if you try to take a lot of wood at once. The router can quickly outrun you. Now there are several other leading router manufacturers. Amana, Eagle America, MLCS and CMT. I love Amana beats, but they're more expensive than other brands, that's probably why they don't usually get listed on forums as preferred brands, I'll probably never own MLCS cutters because they're average cutters and their cut edges just don't last very long , but people love them because they're cheap and get the job done reliably with acceptable results For me, MLCS bits aren't cheap enough to throw away, and with their price tag g I'd rather spend a few bucks more and get a bit that lasts much longer and gives better quality results. I have never tried any of the Eagle America Beats but have heard good things about them. I have a few CMT bits that are about the same price as Freud and Whiteside, but for me they just don't work as well as Freud and Whiteside. Some people swear by them. Personally I think you can get better beats for the price. This is just my opinion. The 4 prominent cutting brands are definitely Freud, Whiteside, MLCS and CMT. These are the brands you will hear the most about and if you read the forums most people will choose them. Amana makes great beats, but they're expensive. Freud and Whiteside are by far the best on the market. Because they last a long time, deliver high-quality results and are exceptionally finished, all at a perfect price.
