This lens is phenomenally cheap - lightweight, PLM autofocus is very quiet and very fast (in good light), lens is decently fast, shots are right sharp conditions. Of course, the low-light performance can't compete with faster lenses, but for the price it's very good. I used to have a Nikon D5600 with a Nikon 77-300 lens which I lost. I decided to purchase the K-70 because Pentax is backwards compatible with a variety of older glasses. While the Pentax 55-300 and Nikon 70-300 are very similar on paper and cost about the same, I find the Pentax 55-300 on my K-70 superior to my old Nikon 70-300 on the D5600 in several ways - it's more compact, lighter, has a bit more range, doesn't make any noise as far as I can hear (nikon was a bit noisy) and I find the long end very handy for backyard bird and wildlife watching where the nikon is a bit eg at 250mm become softer. I have no regrets about switching to Pentax and this lens is a real gem in this price range.
