I bought this thermometer in the fall of 2014 to work in the kitchen but it has finally reached the end of its life. nearly. Holds up pretty well the number of times it's been dropped, stuck in a 350-400 degree oven, accidentally snapped a battery terminal in half and dunked in water to clean. It was definitely water resistant, but the waterproof plastic over the power button has recently started to peel off, allowing liquid to seep in fairly easily. Even then, you just have to let it dry a bit and it works. I've just bought a replacement to have on hand when this one finally comes out, but it could be years away.
