Review on HOTO Precision Screwdriver Magnetic Electronics by Eric Rose

Nicely made screwdriver set but look out for the motorized version

I'm new to the Hoto name but having used two of their products I'm impressed with the quality, product design and storage. Prices aren't the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The specifications are fully described in the product description, so I will not repeat them. The screwdriver bits are beautifully finished. Some have ID numbers on the shaft, some don't. They attach to the handle with magnets and when in use become magnetized enough to hold the screw in place. Good. Even the instructions are translated into excellent English with good illustrations. Impressed! The storage case has a snap-on lid with magnets to keep the bits in place and a handle in a separate compartment. Minor issues: The grip snaps into the case so tightly that it's very difficult to remove. You almost need another screwdriver to pry it out! Hopefully it will get better with wear. A magnet holding the handle in place would be much better. Also, the free-spinning top of the handle, used for one-handed screwing, could have been bigger, like a jeweler's screwdriver, but that's a minor complaint. Suggestion: Consider the Hoto Mini Electric Screwdriver Set. It's very similar, with the same body and set of bits, but instead of a "manual" handle, it has a small battery-powered motor. I haven't used it but I think I would prefer the powered version.
