This is NOT 41F in Hood Parts & Accessories

Apparently Broan has 2 filters of the same size: B29 for duct and 41F for non-duct. They are the same size, just different thicknesses and different degrees of filtering. For obvious reasons, I assume buyers will look for 41F for non-channel filters as stated in the product description. I read a lot of speculation about what kind of filter they got that was thinner and looser. I don't know if it's "fake" or not, but I was told anyway it would be 41F 1/2" thick. However, the one I received was 2/3 thick from its description. Like As you can see in the picture (from the product description) there should also be a thick blue cloth like material on the other end so it can filter as much as possible. The one I received was definitely not intended for use without air ducts. Update 10/20/15 I have returned what I received and ordered this time through Revain and I have to say the $3 was well spent It's normal this is not a Broan filter but it will fit a Broan range hood , and the note (as a guide) mentions a Broan cooker hood. That being said I now find the returned filter quite suspicious. It had nothing but plastic wrap around it and it was clearly intended for the duct model. I would advise you if you one like this I bought to check the density of the filter. If you don't end up with a thick cloth filter, I doubt it's intended for use in a non-ducted hood. Also, the item you received DOES NOT have a blue fabric filter, then you can request a refund/replacement as it is clearly not what the photo in the description shows. Another thing I noticed about a proper filter was that it's supposed to last up to 12 months while the Broan Support FAQ says up to 6 months. I don't know what's causing this difference, but as always, discoloration of the filters is a sign, so check the filters after a while (say every two months) to see if they're worn out. The cheapest. That's all I can say.
