It is more than a financial magazine, I would say that it is a whole corporation that provides indicators and financial data on economic matters, more than 100 years old, with headquarters in the United States and presence in many countries worldwide with more than 20,000 employees, it is a whole international corporation. Personally, during my work in the IT area of an important insurance company with reinsurance companies worldwide, I could understand the importance of this company, its indicators serve as a basis for establishing the premiums to be paid in insurance contracts of faithful compliance, these policies cover unwanted losses due to breach of contract, the higher the risk rating, the higher the premium to be paid for insurance, this undoubtedly determines whether a financial transaction is safe or not, and definitely influences the decision making, that determines the fall in the value of the bond or contract to be taken. Something a little complex but with these tools the understanding is greater, I have always commented, little knowledge in financial or economic matters is dangerous.
S&P provides several indicators but the most important is the stock market index which gives the behavior of a whole set of companies operating or listed on a particular stock exchange, is calculated using the value of each share of the different companies, the higher the index indicates that companies are making profits and it is reliable to invest, low indexes indicate stock market crash and fall of shares of companies, that incurs losses but in clear investment opportunities at risk to future.
Not only does it issue important indexes and indicators, it also provides analysis on ratings and trends in the market. Research not only for investors, but also for companies and government advisors on economic matters.
