Review on 🍳 T-fal Ingenio Expertise Nonstick Cookware Set - 3 Piece, Black Fry Pan by Giovanni Glenn

Who thought a detachable handle would be a good idea? After all, he wasn't impressed.

I've been using Tfal for a long time. I have a full set of tfal cookware and several other types of tfal pans that I have tried. When I saw this new version of Tfal I was excited to try it. When I tried them, I quickly became disillusioned. I thought the unique detachable handle would make storage easier. I wasn't planning on stacking them on top of each other as shown, but I had a feeling they would sit nicely on the pan rack and the handle wouldn't get in the way. For storage, any method is suitable - stacked or on a stand. However, the detachable handle creates other issues that make these pans useless in my opinion. I found at least three issues with the detachable handle. The first problem is that you can't cover the pan with a lid with a handle. The handle is attached to the top edge of the pot, preventing the lid from slipping over. The second problem is that if you want to detach your cooking handle and then put it back on, you have to be careful not to let the food get in the way. The third problem is cleaning. Because food can get on the handle, food can also get caught in the handle mechanism, making cleaning difficult. The fourth problem is that the metal attached to the pan can scratch the surface. I don't know if this is a real issue, but Tfal doesn't address it anywhere. I also immediately realized that even without a handle, the large pot is an odd size and cannot accommodate any other Tfal lid. This is slightly smaller than other large tfal pans. This pan doesn't fit as much as my other large tfal pans. Even the smallest size difference makes a big difference. The advantage of these pans is the new non-stick surface. It seems to work. Cooked food does not stick to it and cleans well. It remains to be seen how they will hold up over time, but I expect they will. The bottom one works on an induction hob. That's a good thing as my other Tfal pans don't work on an induction cooktop. I noticed that the bottom of the pan has started to discolour slightly after just one use on a gas stove. Overall, I give these pans high marks for their non-stick coating. I give low marks for the detachable handle. So much so that I won't be using these pans, except maybe on my portable induction stovetop. I will continue to use my other Tfal pans for most of my cooking.
