Mine came with a spring compressor but I didn't see it in the description. It's a good replacement when your original freezes. Note: The instructions require you to remove the loop and make this replacement on the bench. The only way to remove the hinge in my suburb is to pull the door out. No way. You can make this exchange on a vehicle. Use a screwdriver or two to slide the spring off. Cut out the old roll with a saw and install a new one. Use a spring compressor to break the spring and reinstall it. You may have to remove a screw or two, but the hinge stays in place.
