Fixed the door opening issue.

For 2007 GMC Yukon. Worked great. I didn't follow the directions as they were written. I assume I wanted you to remove the door hinge to get the spring out. Removing the bottom door hinge doesn't give you more clearance. However, you will need to loosen a bolt to allow clearance for the bushing on the nut when installing the new part. I didn't use a spring compressor either. Cool concept. But not needed. Just use the bracket. worked fine Overall a good product. I've been using it in the Alaskan

Good replacement for the body

Mine came with a spring compressor but I didn't see it in the description. It's a good replacement when your original freezes. Note: The instructions require you to remove the loop and make this replacement on the bench. The only way to remove the hinge in my suburb is to pull the door out. No way. You can make this exchange on a vehicle. Use a screwdriver or two to slide the spring off. Cut out the old roll with a saw and install a new one. Use a spring compressor to break the spring andโ€ฆ

Good product, easy installation

I did the passenger side without removing the door, it was quite difficult. Removed driver's side door, very easy. Put a blanket on the floor and grab a little pillow! Remove the bottom panel and the side panel of the instrument panel. Disconnect the door harness and trunk. All you need is a 10mm ratchet wrench to remove the two screws from the bottom hinge that go into the door and a 10mm screw from the underside of the top hinge. I could lift the door myself. Lay the bottom of the door on aโ€ฆ

just what i needed.

First let me tell you that it works, but not quite as you would expect and be careful with the nib. Here are some tips to make your job easier. Firstly, when removing a spring, I found the easiest way to take this spring removal tool and make sure you squeeze as much of the spring as possible. You may need to turn the spring slightly with a flathead screwdriver. Be sure to drive the spring tool all the way onto the spring and use a ratchet wrench to tighten the spring tool. Once the spring isโ€ฆ

Not a quick fix for a 2007 Silverado

What the description doesn't mention is that you have to remove the pivot from the car to use the spring compression tool. I tried the hinge on the first door, back on the truck, but there's no room for a spring compressor. Take a jack and some blocks and support the end of the door, remove the bottom hinge (you'll need a 13mm flex head ratchet wrench and a little patience for a few screws). Slide the loop down and pull it out once. it is not a bolt. This greatly simplifies the installation ofโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power

A great alternative to replacing the entire hinge.

A great alternative to replacing the entire hinge. I just did both front doors on my 2007 Suburban. Like many others, I replaced it while the door was still in place. Quick and messy installation guide with door attached to car. Use a big screwdriver or pry bar to pry the spring out, you'll find out. Used a saw to cut out the old pins, had to cut them in two places for easy removal. Pre-lubricated "red grease" pin. Insert the new pin from underneath, making sure the bearing fits into the pinโ€ฆ
