Review on 🌲 SainSmart Wood LightBrown 3D Printer Filament: A High-Quality Light Solution for Precision Printing by Eddie Simpkins

Useful material but be aware of its shortcomings

I ended up using it to print some small articles. As a construction material, there are some disadvantages. The feel and equivalent strength I believe is cork wood. Very light material, but not as pressure-resistant as normal PLA. It also doesn't have much layer thickness, so I'd suggest using more fill than usual. For example, the barrels you see in the picture were printed with both gray PLA and this wood filament with the same settings (10% infill, 0.1mm thick layers). PLA filament is remarkably strong. I'm not sure I could break them with my bare hands at this size, while using wooden strings I broke one in half just by touching it on the print bed (I haven't even tried to take it off yet). But that's not why I bought it. I wanted to model small scale wooden objects for D&D and it works great for that. I am very happy with the results. I ripped some junk out of a broken barrel to use as straw wrapping material in crates and it looks pretty realistic. I've sanded them down a bit and it seems to be working fine, although I haven't tried it extensively yet. The resulting models are noticeably lighter than with PLA. Overall it's fairly easy to work with and sticks well to the table (heated glass bed, 80C, 205C for the extruder and use of washable glue sticks).
