Review on πŸš— Dasaita 9" 1 DIN Android 10.0 Car GPS Player - Subaru WRX 2016-2018 Head Unit, Octa Core, 4GB RAM, 32GB ROM, Auto Radio, WiFi Car Stereo by Daniel Mettler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Installed on a 2017 WRX Premium

First of all I would like to say that after installing the head unit, it has almost everything I could wish for. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the installation and setup process wasn't as easy as it seemed, at least for the 17 WRX. Physical Installation: The tabs on the top were too thick. to fit the grooves in my car so i had to trim them with a dremel to get them to snap and fit snugly. The USB adapter for the car's built-in port didn't work, but I knew it would work from a previous review and contacted the seller right after I placed my order. They directed me to an Amazon link for the correct adapter. They refunded me but it would have been nice if the correct one was just included in the package. I've found a lot of people have trouble installing a backup camera, which I did initially, but they have instructions on how to do this in the box. Turns out you just need to connect the 2 RCA wires from the rear camera together in the included harnesses. Software Setup: This part is almost the same as setting up a new phone/tablet, with the addition of mapping the steering wheel buttons. I had problems with the pre-installed Car Launcher AG app, which kept crashing. This is because the preinstalled application is very outdated. I removed this and paid $2 for the full Car Launcher AGAMA app and it's been working great ever since. Once installed, it works much like a tablet, with the added features of vehicle integration. At first I was concerned that I had to wait 30 seconds for it to charge before using the rear camera, but I found that it could switch to the rear camera immediately after switching to reverse and load in the background. Currently Spotify and Waze run directly from the main unit via a tethered internet connection which automatically turns my phone on when it connects to the main unit via Bluetooth (using the Tasker app on my phone). The SD card that came with my main unit was 16GB, which was enough for me to download almost all the songs I usually listen to on Spotify, so I don't end up using tons of data all the time. I also installed a lock app so I can lock Waze and the phone app when I bring them to the store. In general, you can make many settings. The great thing about these Android head units is that you can just install another app if you don't like something. I'd also like to add that the sound quality is much better than the stock head unit, especially in the bass if you already have a subwoofer. as long as it keeps working the way it works, then I think it's worth it.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Good but not great
