Judging by the reviews about this pH meter, my expectations were too high. It looks well made and has great features (always-on backlight and water resistance), but in the end the most important question is: does this pH meter accurately measure the pH of solutions? drum roll. It's not like this. Maybe I got a bad block. The calibration was a complete failure. Followed towards t but received ER1's throughout when moving to second gauge (4.0). I've tried a factory reset (option 7) to no avail. The meter reads 4.0 and 7.0 solutions as the same pH, so either the pH meter is defective or the supplied calibration solutions are not good. I have purchased additional calibration solutions from a reputable company. I will update the review when I try to calibrate with different buffer solutions. In the meantime, I recommend postponing the purchase of this gauge. Update 1: Attempting to calibrate NIST traceable buffers. There were the same issues with calibration. Definitely a bad block. Replacement block is on the way! There will be an update soon. Update 2: Revain immediately shipped a replacement! I am happy to report that the replacement unit is working great. There were no calibration issues, so the first unit I received was obviously defective. Today I ran various tests and comparisons --- Apera works like a champ! Star rating has been updated.
