Review on Black Pro Series Rambler Hitch Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4” Receivers - 63155 by John Mceachern

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The receiver rod bends slightly.

UPDATE: After 6 months of use this cargo carrier has failed miserably. You have to buy a clutch tensioner, but the worst thing is that the rod that holds the holder is bent. When I first put the trunk on the back of my trailer, it had to hold my generator. The generator is an Energizer 2200 which according to the website weighs 70 pounds. Then if you add 7 liters of gas which is another 11 pounds I will also put in 5 logs and stuff for about 20 pounds. This adds up to 101 pounds plus the 39 pound carrier weight for a total of 140 pounds. The website says it has a "reliable 300-pound capacity." If I'm only carrying half the weight capacity, why is the bar bent? I was worried it would crack the clutch seams, but it doesn't. It's hard to tell from the picture I'm attaching, but the entire cargo basket is tilted backwards. When I put it on for the first time, it wasn't like that. The thin metal grid on the underside cannot be relied on to bind anything. It just looks a little cheesy.

Pros
  • 5.5" side rails keep cargo securely in place
Cons
  • Secret
