Review on πŸ”Œ Camco 42013 Awning Tension Power Hook by Antonio Urbina

Big differences from the latest version from Camco!

I was confused as to why this product cost more than the Camco RV anchor I previously had and left more money on one of our trips. I couldn't understand the differences between the two products. When I received this product, I could clearly see the differences. One obvious difference is that the straps are significantly longer. For those of you like me with a high canvas fifth wheel, this anchor is just the ticket. The other anchor straps were barely enough to touch the bottom. Also, due to the height of my canopy, I only had one bidding option on this product. Not so with this anchor system. There's enough "meat" on the strap to give you multiple placement options! Another big difference between the two products that I really like is the way the strap attaches to the roll-up bar of the awning itself. The previous system was simply looped around a roller bar and connected to itself. It worked, mind you. However, it slipped when the wind blew the canopy away, providing no support or stability. This new and improved anchorage features a raised U-curve on the clasp or hook portion of the strap that wraps around the awning roll, locking onto itself. However, the clasp is rounded around the contour of the rollerbar and the U-shaped protrusion of the clasp actually snaps into one of the two grooves on the rollerbar. Depending on the manufacturer, you can even have 3 grooves on the roller bar. As a result, the connection around the roller bar does not fail and is more stable than the other proposed embodiment. IMHO, very good design. Please note that this anchor system was supplied without screws. However, I only used bets from my lost belts. If you are buying for the first time, you can buy the shares yourself. If you're looking to save money, Harbor Freight sells similar stocks for less than $2 each. Although they are a little longer and you can tie a leash to them. They perform the same task. For those seemingly few differences, is it worth spending more money on this system than an alternative? I say yes! Basically what little money you spend on this system is nothing compared to the cost of replacing your canopy and the collateral damage that comes from wind damage! It doesn't take much wind to move these awnings! If this system is not available, buy an alternative and cheaper version. It's a cheap insurance policy!
