Review on πŸͺ“ CHEERBRIGHT Sharpening Stone Set - 3 Piece for Optimal Blade Sharpening by Nick Atkinson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

4 stones in 3 parts - small but usable - good wear resistance and functionality good price

I only bought these stones to sharpen a badly cut pocket knife that I use for opening mail etc. use. These things surprised me, I've used them on several knives. I sharpened an old Swiss Army knife to near razor sharpness in just 20 minutes. Well! First, they are small; I have no problem with that, but some can. (depending on perfectionist level and various possible OCD factors) I like them a lot, but I'm good at sharpening knives, some might not. I've been doing this since I was a teenager. The stones themselves are actually 4 stones but made up of 3 parts. 320 for rough profiling of damaged blades or jagged edges, 900 (burr) great for easy all round sharpening and then double-sided 8k and 10k ceramic whetstone to finish a very fine edge. A double sided 8k/10k stone might only be for very stable, picky people who need a near or true razor sharp edge. In most cases this is overkill, but it's good if you know how to do it. Boron 900 (Black) meets 98% of most people's needs; No need to polish the cannonball, it works fine, quite rough. Featuring a 320 redstone for rough edges, these 2 stones may be all you need or want. I like to use 8k/10k to smooth the edges a bit, but I'm not too attached to it. I also use a leather sling which does more or less the same thing as the 8k/10k combo stone. These are excellent whetstones. They can be used dry but they work much better and last longer when used in oil or water. Some people swear by oil, I liked it too until I realized it was too dirty. Water mixed with some Dawn dish soap and maybe 20% baby oil (optional) will do the same thing as mineral oil with a lot less mess. I suggest keeping these stones moist, in a plastic bag or small container they are ready to use. Keep them really well soaked when using. You'll see how good dry sharpening is. But if you don't keep them moist, you need to soak them for 5-10 minutes before using them. They work well and do a great job if you don't mind their small size.
